India, April 13: Hitachi Vantara, the data storage, infrastructure and hybrid cloud management subsidiary of Hitachi Ltd., has been named a Leader and Fast Mover in the 2026 GigaOm Radar for Object Storage, reinforcing its growing position in enterprise data infrastructure and AI-ready storage platforms.
The recognition highlights the company’s Virtual Storage Platform One Object (VSP One Object), a scalable software-defined object storage platform designed for large enterprise environments. According to the report, the platform stands out for its storage optimization capabilities, advanced data reduction, efficient capacity utilization, and enterprise-grade scalability.
The GigaOm Radar for Object Storage evaluates leading enterprise object storage platforms on the basis of technical capabilities, innovation, and business impact. As AI-led workloads and data-intensive applications continue to surge, the report notes that unstructured data is becoming central to modern infrastructure strategies, increasing the importance of resilient and scalable object storage systems.
GigaOm specifically recognized Hitachi Vantara for several high-performance capabilities, including:
- AI-optimized data paths that improve read/write efficiency for AI and machine learning workloads
- Flexible deployment models and protocol support across diverse enterprise environments
- Scalability from terabytes to exabytes and billions of objects, enabling seamless long-term expansion
Commenting on the recognition, Whit Walters, Field CTO at GigaOm, said the platform reflects the broader shift toward unified data architectures.
“The platform is supported by an aggressive roadmap and continues to evolve in response to user and market requirements, with a focus on rapid innovation and frequent updates. Its positioning as a Leader reflects its ability to scale and continue advancing as part of a broader unified data strategy.”
Industry analysts note that object storage is increasingly moving beyond its traditional archival role to become a core layer for data lakehouse architectures, AI training pipelines, analytics workloads, and high-throughput data systems.
A major differentiator for VSP One Object is its support for native S3 Tables, enabling organizations to access structured data directly within object storage environments. This reduces data movement complexity and simplifies analytics workflows across large-scale hybrid infrastructures.
Octavian Tanase, Chief Product Officer, Hitachi Vantara, said enterprises now need platforms that do more than just scale storage.
“Organizations today need more than scalable storage. They need a platform that helps them securely manage and activate data wherever it resides. VSP One Object enables customers to support a wide range of workloads, from AI and analytics to data lakehouse environments, while maintaining the reliability and operational simplicity enterprises expect.”
