The President of India conferred the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian award, on Nanaji Deshmukh (posthumous), Bhupen Hazarika (posthumous), and Pranab Mukherjee at a ceremony in Rashtrapati Bhavan on 8 August 2019.
