The Department of Teacher Training and Non-Formal Education (IASE), JMI organized a consultative meet on 3rd February 2026 at 3:00 p.m. at Mir Anis Hall, JMI, to discuss the implementation of Four-Year Integrated Teacher Education Programme (B. Sc. B. Ed. & B. A. B.Ed. Secondary Stage), a flagship programme of Ministry of Education, as envisaged by NEP-2020. The Department has received approval from NCTE (National Council for Teacher Education) to start ITEP from 2026 academic session onwards.
In connection with ITEP implementation, a consultative meet was organized with the Deans of the Faculties of Social Sciences, Humanities & Languages, Education, Life Sciences, and Science, and the Heads of the Departments of Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Biosciences, Computer Science, Persian, History & Culture, Political Science, Geography, English, Hindi, Urdu, Arabic, Economics, and Islamic Studies. The meet was chaired by the Honourable Vice- Chancellor, Prof Mazhar Asif and graced by the presence of respected Registrar, Prof Md. Mahtab Alam Rizvi. The meet highlighted the institutional priority accorded to the successful implementation of the ITEP programme.
To formally commence the meet, Prof. Farah Farooqi, Head, IASE welcomed the dignitaries and shared the significance of ITEP programme. Prof Gurjeet Kaur highlighted the vision and mission of ITEP. Following this, Prof Jasim Ahmad presented a proposed programme structure including semester wise credits, paper distribution, necessary modalities, multiple entry and exit system, etc.
In his presidential remark, Honourable Vice Chancellor highlighted the significance of ITEP as a transformative initiative in teacher education and called for collaborative efforts to uphold quality and innovation. The Registrar expressed his gratitude to each member of the meet for their constant support. He emphasized the administrative and regulatory preparedness required for the programme and assured institutional support for its successful rollout.
The consultative meet aimed to discuss the implementation strategies of ITEP, its vision and mission with the relevant Departments and Faculties. Emphasis was laid on aligning the programme with the National Education Policy-2020 and ensuring academic excellence, multidisciplinary integration, and professional competency among prospective teachers.
The consultative meet concluded with a consensus on the need for coordinated academic planning and continuous review, paving the way for the effective launch of the ITEP programme. The meeting ended with a formal vote of thanks proposed by Prof Savita Kaushal from IASE, JMI.
