Udaipur, March 22, 2026: In a major anti-corruption operation, the Anti Corruption Bureau Rajasthan arrested two police personnel, including a Station House Officer (SHO), while accepting a bribe of ₹8 lakh.
The कार्रवाई, carried out by the ACB Intelligence Unit in Udaipur, has triggered strong reactions within the police department.
Accused Police Officials Arrested
The arrested officials are:
- Nirmal Kumar Khatri
- Bhallararam Patel
Both were posted at Mandwa Police Station and were caught during a planned trap operation.
₹20 Lakh Demand, ₹8 Lakh Deal Finalized
According to ACB officials:
- Initial bribe demand: ₹20 lakh
- Basis: ₹5 lakh per person to avoid naming four individuals as accused
- Final negotiated amount: ₹8 lakh
The case was linked to manipulation in a criminal matter, raising serious concerns over misuse of authority.
Trap Operation Details
The ACB conducted the operation based on a confidential complaint:
- Trap executed on March 21, 2026
- ₹1 lakh real currency + ₹7 lakh dummy notes used
- Accused caught red-handed while accepting the राशि
The operation was supervised by Rameshwar Singh and led by Inspector Sonu Shekhawat.
Legal Action Initiated
A case has been registered under:
- Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 (Section 7)
- Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023 (Section 61(2))
Senior ACB officials, including Smita Srivastava and S Parimala, are overseeing further investigation.
