The Karnataka Lokayukta received intelligence inputs about large-scale corruption in awarding projects within the Public Works Department (PWD), prompting a major anti-corruption operation.

Searches at the residences of PWD Chief Engineer Purushottam and KREIS Superintending Engineer H. M. Janardhan led to the seizure of Rs 1.7 crore in cash and gold from properties located in Bengaluru and Mysuru.
