The Games & Sports Department, Jamia Millia Islamia is organizing the 7th Edition of Jamia Premier League-2026 (A Staff T-20 Cricket Tournament) from 26th March, 2026 (Thursday). The Opening Ceremony of the Jamia Premier League-2025 was held on 26th March, 2026 (Thursday) at Nawab Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi Sports Complex, JMI. The programme was graced by Prof. Mazhar Asif, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor alongwith Mrs. Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Md. Mahtab Alam Rizvi, Registrar, JMI, Prof. Mohd. Mahfuzul Haque, Chairman, Sports Committee, JMI in the presence of the Deans and Directors.
Besides this, Prof. Mazhar Asif, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, and Prof. Md. Mahtab Alam Rizvi, Registrar, JMI inaugurated new Cricket Nets with Bowling Machine (in Cricket Ground).
The Inaugural Match was played between the Teams of Vice-Chancellor-XI and Registrar-XI on 26th March, 2026 (Thursday) at 8:30 a.m. in N.M.A.K. Pataudi Sports Complex, JMI.
Prof. Mazhar Asif, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, JMI addressed the participants encouraging them to take part in sports in addition to their professional activities and wished all the participating teams for the tournament.
Prof. Md. Mahtab Alam Rizvi, Registrar, JMI highlighted the importance of the games & sports in healthy work-life balance of the employees and encouraged the players to play atl east one game with full enthusiasm for overall health benefits.
Prof. Nafis Ahmad, Hony. Director, Games & Sports, JMI outlined a brief introduction on the JPL-2025. He added that this staff tournament has been organizing by the Games & Sports Department, JMI for the last 11 years. In this tournament, the teaching and non-teaching (permanent, contractual & outsource) employees participate and form teams of their respective Faculties and administrative offices of the University.
