Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Wednesday said that Rajasthan has immense potential to emerge as a Health and Wellness Capital, and with the continuous efforts of the state government and the cooperation of Pravasi Rajasthanis, this vision can be realised in the near future.
Addressing a special medical session organised during the Pravasi Rajasthani Diwas celebrations at JECC, the Chief Minister said Rajasthan is moving rapidly toward achieving 100 percent targets under Sustainable Development Goal–3 and Universal Health Coverage by 2030.
He highlighted the vast investment opportunities in areas such as:
Super-speciality hospitals
Medical tourism
Technology transfer
One Health research centres
Pharma and medical device manufacturing
Artificial Intelligence in healthcare
He said Pravasi Rajasthanis can play a significant role in strengthening these sectors.
Expansion of Medical Education and Healthcare Infrastructure
The Chief Minister said the state government is working with robust policies to promote healthcare investment. Over the past two years, seven new medical colleges have been started, while work is underway for 15 more new medical colleges. During this period, around 2,200 new MBBS, PG and super-speciality seats have been added.
Rajasthan is now advancing with the One Health approach, integrating human, animal and environmental health.
Major Welfare Schemes Strengthening Universal Health Coverage
CM Sharma said the government launched the Chief Minister Ayushman Arogya Yojana, under which cashless treatment up to ₹25 lakh is being provided. So far, 35 lakh people have received free treatment under the scheme.
Under other initiatives:
30 crore diagnostic tests have been conducted under the Free जांच Scheme, benefitting 9 crore patients
10.34 crore patients have received free medicines under the Free Medicine Scheme
Under the MA Voucher Scheme, 2.25 lakh pregnant women have received free sonography services
Medicines for serious diseases are being provided completely free
He also noted that AYUSH systems of medicine have reached over 100 countries globally due to the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Rajasthan is actively promoting AYUSH-based healthcare, opening new opportunities for investors.
Rajasthan Setting an Example in Universal Health Coverage: Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khimsar
Medical & Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khimsar said Rajasthan’s healthcare model is emerging as a national example in Universal Health Coverage. He said world-class healthcare institutions will be established in the state in the coming years, further strengthening medical infrastructure with active participation from the private sector.
He added that MoUs signed during Rising Rajasthan are being implemented at a fast pace. The state’s ‘Heal in Rajasthan’ policy is proving to be a major initiative to promote medical tourism.
Health Given Top Priority in State Budget
The Health Minister said the government’s commitment is reflected in budget allocations, with over 8 percent of the total budget dedicated to the health sector. Medical institutions across villages have been converted into Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, offering 12 types of healthcare services. Telemedicine services have further improved healthcare access in remote rural areas.
Massive Recruitment Drive to Tackle Staff Shortage
To address manpower shortages, the government has completed the recruitment process for 35,000 healthcare posts:
Over 27,000 appointments already made
Recruitment underway for more than 15,000 additional posts
Under the MA Scheme, around 10,000 patients receive free treatment worth ₹10 crore every day.
A Rajasthan Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) is being developed in Jaipur on the lines of AIIMS. Emphasising the Digital Health Model, the minister said technology has made healthcare more transparent, faster and more accessible.
Health Is the Foundation of Social Justice: Minister Avinash Gehlot
Social Justice & Empowerment Minister Avinash Gehlot said that healthcare is the most fundamental right linked to social justice, and it holds meaning only when all sections of society receive equal and safe healthcare services.
He said under CM Bhajan Lal Sharma’s leadership, Rajasthan is progressing rapidly as an investment destination, and MoUs from Rising Rajasthan are now translating into real projects. He also called on Pravasi Rajasthanis to support development in the areas of education, healthcare, rehabilitation and social welfare.
Maternal and Child Health Top Priority: Dr Manju Baghmar
Minister of State for Women & Child Development Dr Manju Baghmar said maternal and child health is the government’s highest priority. Through initiatives such as:
Anaemia control
Safe motherhood programmes
Newborn care
Adolescent nutrition
HPV vaccination
Modernisation of Anganwadi services
Rajasthan has recorded significant improvement in key health indicators.
She appealed to Pravasi Rajasthanis to contribute their expertise in women’s health, nutrition, digital monitoring and mental health programmes to further strengthen the state’s healthcare system.
