An agreement was signed between the National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE) and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) to launch a skill development programme in the solar thermal energy sector.
The signing took place at the UNIDO office on 7 August 2019, in the presence of UNIDO Representative in India René van Berkel and NISE Director General A.K. Tripathi.
Key objectives of the agreement
Develop structured training programmes for multiple levels of beneficiaries in solar thermal energy
Engage national and international experts to create specialized training material
Promote adoption of best practices in the sector
The initiative is part of the ongoing MNRE–GEF–UNIDO project aimed at strengthening capacity building in Concentrated Solar Thermal (CST) technologies. These technologies are intended to replace conventional fossil fuels such as coal, diesel, and furnace oil, thereby reducing energy costs and emissions in industrial process heat applications.
