Finance Minister Suresh Khanna outlined several major initiatives for farmers in the Uttar Pradesh Budget 2026–27, highlighting record payments, higher cane prices, and continued procurement support.
Key Announcements for Farmers
The government has ensured record sugarcane payments exceeding ₹3,04,321 crore during its tenure.
This is ₹90,802 crore higher than the combined sugarcane payments of the previous 22 years (₹2,13,519 crore).
For the 2025–26 crushing season, sugarcane prices have been increased by ₹30 per quintal, benefiting farmers with an estimated additional ₹3,000 crore in payments.
In the Rabi Marketing Year 2025–26, the government procured 10.27 lakh metric tonnes of wheat, paying ₹2,512 crore to farmers.
During the Kharif Marketing Year 2025–26, 42.96 lakh metric tonnes of paddy were procured, with payments exceeding ₹9,710 crore.
The government also purchased 2.14 lakh metric tonnes of bajra from 54,253 farmers, disbursing around ₹595 crore.
Other Key Budget Highlights
Uttar Pradesh will be connected to two High-Speed Rail Corridors — Delhi–Varanasi and Varanasi–Siliguri.
Development plans announced for Sarnath and Hastinapur, sites of major archaeological and cultural significance.
Proposals include Emergency and Trauma Centres in every district hospital, hostels for girls in each district, and skill development for 10,000 tourist guides.
The government welcomed the Centre’s decision to reduce prices of diabetes and cancer medicines, calling it a major relief for citizens.
