As vote counting continues for all 243 assembly seats in Bihar, trends show the RJD-led Mahagathbandhan and Congress struggling to keep pace with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), which is leading in over 190 seats.
The opposition alliance is trailing across all regions, with RJD’s Chief Ministerial candidate Tejashwi Prasad Yadav currently behind BJP’s Satish Kumar in Raghopur. Congress, too, is failing to make significant gains, leading in only 4 seats so far.
Current trends (out of 243 seats):
RJD: 27
Congress: 4
BJP: 91
JDU: 81
LJP(RV): 21
HAM: 4
Others: 19
The Mahagathbandhan’s hopes of mounting a strong challenge have been dampened, while NDA leaders continue to lead in key constituencies. Senior BJP leader Dr. Prem Kumar is ahead in Gaya Town, and other BJP candidates including Maithili Thakur and Deputy Chief Ministers Vijay Kumar Sinha and Samrat Choudhary are maintaining strong leads.
RJD and Congress supporters are closely monitoring results, hoping for a late surge, but trends suggest the NDA is widening the gap. The opposition alliance’s debutant ally, Prashant Kishore’s Jan Suraaj Party, has also failed to make an impact in its first electoral outing.
The counting process, overseen by 243 Returning Officers and assisted by an equal number of Counting Observers, is being closely monitored by over 18,000 candidate-appointed agents to ensure transparency.
Bihar had recorded a voter turnout of 67.13% in the two-phase elections on November 6 and 11. Tight security is in place across counting centres, with CAPF and Bihar Police personnel ensuring smooth operations.
