The Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC), Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), yesterday successfully concluded a Four-Week Training Programme conducted in hybrid mode for Assistant Registrars, Section Officers, and other administrative staff of the university. It was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mazhar Asif.
The valedictory function was graced by the Registrar, Prof. Mahtab Alam Rizvi, who served as the Chief Guest. In his address, Prof. Rizvi emphasized the importance of competence, commitment, and responsiveness among administrative staff. He highlighted the critical role of capacity-building initiatives in promoting good governance and enhancing service delivery in higher education institutions. He also reflected on the employee-employer relationship, drawing on the insights of philosophers like Plato and Martin Luther King Jr.
Prof. Rizvi further elaborated on the management theory known as POSDCORB—an acronym for Planning, Organizing, Staffing, Directing, Coordinating, Reporting, and Budgeting—formulated by Luther Gulick and Lyndall Urwick. This framework, rooted in the classical approach to public administration, offers valuable insights into organizational effectiveness.
The event began with a welcome address by Prof. Kulwinder Kaur, Honorary Director, MMTTC, who expressed gratitude to the Registrar for his presence and extended a warm welcome to all 31 participants. She also outlined the key themes and objectives of the training programme.
Prof. Mohd. Kamalun Nabi, Course Coordinator, presented a detailed report highlighting the programme structure, resource persons, and learning outcomes. The training comprised 96 sessions delivered by distinguished speakers from across India. The curriculum spanned a diverse range of topics including, General Administration (Ordinance, Noting & Drafting, CCS Rules, Good governance RTI etc.), Finance (PFMS, Pay Fixation, OPS, NPS, UPS etc.), Technical Skills (e-Office, Google Apps, Cyber Threats & Security etc.) and Soft Skills and Wellbeing (Communication, Morale & Motivation, Stress Management, YOGA etc.).
