Piramal Foundation for Education Leadership Partners with Emory University to Implement SEE Learning in Indian Government Schools
Piramal Foundation for Education Leadership (PFEL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Emory University, USA, to build educator capacity for rolling out the Social Emotional Ethical (SEE) Learning curriculum across government schools in India. The pilot program will cover 5,000 schools and impact 500,000 children over two years in Gujarat, Jharkhand, Jammu & Kashmir, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan.
Key Highlights:
Over 70 Learning Certified Facilitators will be trained by Emory University from PFEL’s workforce of more than 1,500 employees.
These facilitators will train headmasters, teachers, and government officials to effectively implement the SEE Learning curriculum.
The curriculum is scientifically grounded and developmentally appropriate for students from early elementary to middle school.
Core elements include attention training, compassion, ethical discernment, systems thinking, resilience, and trauma-informed practices.
SEE Learning aims to foster individual and societal wellbeing by integrating insights from emotional intelligence, neuroscience, developmental psychology, education, and contemplative science.
Statements:
Mr. Aditya Natraj, CEO of PFEL, highlighted the initiative’s potential to transform the Indian education ecosystem and positively impact 5 million children by 2025.
Dr. Lobsang Tenzin Negi, Executive Director of Emory University’s Center for Contemplative Science and Compassion-Based Ethics, lauded PFEL’s leadership and scale in implementing SEE Learning in India.
This partnership builds on the global launch of SEE Learning in New Delhi in April 2019, an event attended by His Holiness the Dalai Lama and prominent Indian leaders.
