In a major enforcement action, the Balodabazar district administration has intensified its crackdown against illegal storage and transportation of paddy to ensure a transparent and orderly procurement process, in line with state government directives.
Acting under the guidance of the District Collector, joint teams of the Revenue Department and Food Department conducted inspections across the district and seized a total of 350 sacks of illegally held paddy in multiple cases.
According to official information, in the Palari tehsil, the joint team seized 216 sacks of illegal paddy in two separate cases and handed them over to the Rohansi procurement centre.
In another case, 26 sacks of paddy were seized from the possession of Ashwani Kumar Sahu in village Bohardih. Additionally, in Rikokhurd village of Kasdol block, 108 sacks of paddy were found being illegally transported by Pawan Kumar Sahu, son of Gajadhar Sahu. The paddy, along with the vehicle used for transportation, was seized and placed under the custody of the village Kotwar at Rikokhurd.
District officials said continuous monitoring and strict action against violations will continue to prevent irregularities in paddy procurement and to safeguard farmers’ interests.
