Directed by Pandiarajan, the film — which completed 600 days in theatres during its original run — has been digitally restored in 4K with colour grading supervised by the original cinematographer and remixed in Dolby Atmos.
The laugh riot revolves around a village simpleton (Pandiarajan) who lands in Chennai and triggers chaos in a traditional family headed by Revathi and Karthik. Its timeless humour, catchy Ilaiyaraaja songs, and memorable one-liners continue to trend on social media reels.
Streaming platform executives revealed the title clocked the highest pre-release buzz among catalogue Tamil titles this quarter, prompting an exclusive 30-day window.
Pandiarajan, now 66, expressed delight: “Today’s youngsters are discovering our film through memes and shorts. The OTT release will let them watch the full madness in one go.”
Early previews suggest the remaster retains the original warmth while enhancing visual clarity, especially in outdoor sequences shot in Ooty and Kodaikanal.
