As part of World Environment Day celebrations, students of Canadian International School (CIS) organized ‘The Garbage Challenge’—an initiative to promote environmental conservation and instill the importance of respecting our planet. Alongside their teachers, students cleaned an entire lane leading to their school, removing large amounts of garbage.
The activity saw enthusiastic participation from students, parents, friends, and teachers, who collectively gathered several loads of garbage bags, transforming the area within just one hour.
Commenting on this noble initiative, Mr. Martin Thomas, Elementary School Principal at CIS, said, “As part of our Core Value ‘Show Respect,’ a group of students teamed up with teachers to take part in ‘The Garbage Challenge.’ The transformation in just one hour, with so many bags of garbage collected, was truly amazing!”
Ms. Pratibha Sharma, a teacher at CIS, expressed her enthusiasm: “It was such a transformational idea. I already foresee a cleaner Bangalore. What started as a small initiative at CIS could spark a giant movement for Bangalore!”
Ms. Flore Louart, a proud parent, praised the effort: “Such a wonderful initiative. Well done CIS students and teachers!”
Fifth-grade student Ari Lulla emphasized the significance of respect: “It was great to help clean the garbage near the school. We need to do this because respecting our planet is very important.”
