A violent attack by antisocial elements inside the hostel campus of Maharaja College in Jaipur has come to light three days after the incident took place. The assault occurred in broad daylight at the main gate of Gokhale Hostel, where armed attackers allegedly beat students with iron rods, metal bars and sticks, leaving more than six students seriously injured.
The incident gained public attention after a video of the attack and a distress phone call from a student went viral, triggering widespread outrage.
Administration Springs into Action After Viral Evidence
Following the circulation of the video and audio clips, the college administration moved swiftly. College Principal JP Singh stated that he had been on leave for two days and rejoined duty on Tuesday. After reviewing the full incident report, an official complaint was lodged by the college administration.
Meanwhile, according to Lalkothi Police Station In-Charge Prakashram, the students have also registered a separate FIR. A police investigation is currently underway, and teams are actively working to identify and track down the attackers. Preliminary investigations suggest that the violence may be linked to a personal rivalry.
Students Had Warned About Possible Attack
Students claim that they had alerted the college authorities in advance about a possible threat, as mentioned in a phone call made before the attack. However, they allege that their concerns were ignored, which led to the violent incident.
The injured students have alleged that students from other colleges may be involved in the attack. They further stated that had timely preventive action and tighter security arrangements been made, the incident could have been avoided.
Long-Standing Security Lapses Alleged
Students have also raised serious concerns about weak security at the hostel and campus gates, alleging that guards have not been consistently deployed for a long time. Complaints regarding security lapses had reportedly been made earlier as well.
Tense Situation on Campus
Following the incident, a tense atmosphere prevails on the campus. There is growing pressure on the police and district administration to arrest the accused at the earliest and strengthen campus security to prevent any further violence.
