Mumbai: Global financial markets showed strong movement across equities and cryptocurrencies in the latest session, with UK stocks rising sharply, several cryptocurrencies surging, and major US technology stocks seeing heavy trading activity—developments closely watched by investors in India.
The FTSE 100 climbed 1.59% to 10,412.24, driven largely by gains in mining and industrial companies. Precious metals producer Fresnillo plc led the index rally with an 8.10% jump, while Anglo American plc rose 6.56% and copper giant Antofagasta plc gained nearly 6%.
Aerospace major Rolls-Royce Holdings also climbed 5.85%, highlighting strong momentum in industrial stocks. Financial sector participation was visible as Barclays gained more than 5%, while homebuilder Persimmon plc also advanced.
US Tech Stocks Draw Heavy Trading
Meanwhile in the United States, large technology companies continued to dominate trading activity. Semiconductor giant NVIDIA traded actively around $184.77, gaining over 1%, while Micron Technology jumped more than 3.5% during the session.
Electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla also remained among the most actively traded stocks. The broader US market indicator, the SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust, saw significant trading volumes as global investors tracked market direction.
Crypto Market Shows Sharp Moves
Cryptocurrency markets also experienced notable volatility. Bitcoin SV surged 24.42%, emerging as one of the biggest gainers among digital assets.
Other cryptocurrencies also rallied, including Akash Network, which rose 18%, and Flow, which gained nearly 12%. Pi Network also advanced during the session.
However, not all tokens performed strongly. DeXe declined more than 10%, while decentralized storage project Filecoin dropped over 8%.
What It Means for Indian Investors
Market experts say Indian investors increasingly track global markets—including US tech stocks, UK commodities-linked companies, and cryptocurrencies—to gauge global risk sentiment. Movements in sectors like semiconductors, mining, and digital assets often influence trading strategies in emerging markets including India.
