Hyderabad, July 17, 2026: NIAT - NxtWave of Innovation in Advanced Technologies, India’s leading AI native upskilling platform, students have developed NeuroGrip - a smart assistive pen designed to help individuals with motor disabilities such as dysgraphia improve their writinghabits through real-time feedback. Inspired by the challenges faced by a member of their community, the team built the device to address common issues such as excessive grip pressure, hand tremors, and writing fatigue.
The pen integrates pressure sensors and motion tracking technology to detect when users grip the pen too tightly or experience unstable hand movements. A gentle buzzer alerts users to relax their grip, whilean LED indicator provides visual feedback whenever tremors are detected, helping users gradually develop better writing control. Unlike conventional handwriting assessment tools that analyse writing after it is completed, NeuroGrip offers immediate, real-timebehavioural correction, making it a practical assistive solution for rehabilitation and everyday use.
NeuroGrip was developed and demonstrated at the Maker's Conclave during TakeOver 2026 - largest cross country AI & Engineering Showcase where students showcased functional AI prototypes built to solve real-world challenges across Health, Agriculture, Safety & Transport, and Disaster Response, reflecting NIAT's hands-on approachto innovation and engineering education.
