Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that continuous improvements are being made in the state’s education sector, with better facilities and strengthened support systems for students. Over the last two years, the dropout rate has fallen from 21.4% to 16.8%, and further efforts should be made to reduce it even more. He emphasized that maximum students must benefit from the state’s incentive-based schemes.
The Chief Minister chaired a review meeting of the School Education Department at the Vidhansabha Committee Hall on Tuesday. He noted that, in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, high school and higher secondary examinations were conducted smoothly for the past two years and results were declared on time.
Dr. Yadav stressed the need to further expand vocational education, along with skill development and agricultural education.
Key Directions from the Chief Minister
1. Improve Vocational and Skill-Based Training
Increase focus on vocational education under NEP 2020.
Provide skill development training based on students’ interests.
Introduce agricultural education in schools.
2. Strengthen Educational Infrastructure & Teaching Quality
Reward principals of schools delivering excellent examination results.
Consider using school buildings for college classes during non-school hours (“one building, multiple classrooms model”).
Ensure the distribution of textbooks at all levels without delays.
3. Enhance Student Support Schemes
The meeting included a review of:
Free textbook distribution
Scooter (Scooty) distribution scheme
Bicycle distribution scheme
It was informed that:
19 lakh girls received sanitation and hygiene kits via DBT of ₹300 each.
Hostels have been equipped with washing machines, roti makers, mattresses, and other essential items.
Under the PM Tribal Justice Campaign, 210 hostels have been approved.
Strengthening of school infrastructure continues under PM Shri and Sandipani model schools.
4. Focus on Academic Outcomes
Class 10 results improved to 74%, and Class 12 results to over 76% for 2024–25.
First and second terminal exams recorded average results of 87% and 82%, respectively.
A significant rise was noted in the number of government school students passing with first division.
Additional Directions Issued
Plan to set up a bicycle manufacturing unit in the state.
Establish Sandipani Ashram Schools, similar to Navodaya Vidyalayas.
Award teachers with excellent performance at the state level.
Ensure proper access roads to schools in coordination with other departments.
